The Curtiss XP-62 is a prototype single-engine fighter aircraft developed during the Second World War. On 25 May 1942, a contract for 100 P-62 fighters was awarded but was terminated on 27 July 1942, as it would affect deliveries of Curtiss-built Republic P-47 Thunderbolts. The design was slowly worked on until it was eventually cancelled on 21 September 1943.

Other than the four 20mm cannons that were fitted on the prototype, 2 other loadouts were proposed; either eight 20mm cannons, or twelve 12.7x99mm machine guns.
