Overview
The Type5 Chi-Ri II (五式中戦車チリ Go-Shiki Chū-Sensha Chi-Ri) is a Japanese prototype medium tank developed from 1943. A single prototype Chi-Ri II was seized by the Americans during the US occupation of Japan.
Variants
Type5 Chi-Ri I
The first Chi-Ri design. One prototype built (no armament).
Type5 Chi-Ri II
Larger turret to house an autoloading mechanism. One prototype built.
Type5 Chi-Ri III
This model was a design for a more practical medium tank. It mimicked the specification of the Chi-To III. It lacked the hull-mounted 37mm gun. The large gasoline engine is replaced with the smaller 500hp Mitsubishi AL Type4 V12 diesel engine. 5 produced.
